Steps to reproduce:

  • use Firefox 68.2.0 ESR on Windows 7 (32 bit)
  • select a bookmark which has keywords
  • copy this keywords to the clipboard (e.g. "abc xyz")
  • select another bookmark (with a different URL) which has no keywords
  • paste the keywords from the clipboard (e.g. "abc xyz") to the 2nd bookmark
  • look into the first bookmark
    Result: the keywords of the 1st bookmarks are deleted

Looks exactly like Bug 1343256 which had been fixed 3 years ago

I never used Firefox Sync.

Summary: Bookmark keywords are lost if entered in another bookmark → Bookmark keywords are lost if entered identically in another bookmark

One keyword can only point to one url, so when you set the same keyword to a different url, it is removed from the first one and assigned to the new one. In other words, you cannot assign the same keyword to different urls.
If the 2 bookmarks have the same url, they should show the same keyword as well.

In Bug 1343256 the user was assigning different unique keywords, see the opening comment: "Give both bookmarks unique keywords. After giving the second bookmark a keyword, the keyword from the first bookmark disappears."
