User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020722
BuildID: 2002072204
When I try to select another folder as a disk cache folder I cannot do so
because the "Select" button of the file selection dialog remains greyed out
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select Preferences -> Advanced -> Cache
2. Besides "Disk Cache folder" press button "Choose folder..."
3. Select a directory you want to use for disk cache
Actual Results: You can't select the directory you want (even the directory
that IS currently used for the disk cache) because the "select" button remains
greyed out
Expected Results: You should be able to select a directory as disk cache folder.

> If you type . in the filename text box, does it enable Select?
Yes! This works.
The problem here is that the XP file dialog does not have its select button
enabled when nothing is slected. It does not take into account that its trying
to select a directory and by default, when no directory is selected, it keeps
teh select box disabled. This behaviour is fine for files but not fine when
you're selecting directories. There has got to be a bug already filed on this.
Any one know about it?

I'm using linux nightly 2002120705. When I select a directory in the directory
list, the "Select" button becomes active.
Christoph, could you check this and see if it's working correctly now?

Yes, it works for me now!!
(I'm currently using the SuSE build of Mozilla 1.2)
So it seems there were 2 issues here. The first bug reported by the reporter
which seems to be fixed now and teh other is a variant of the bug that I
mentioned in comment 3 (for which I still haven't found a bug report). Should
this bug be marked WORKSFORME since the initial bug is no longer present? or
should it be morphed into the bug I mentioned in comment 3?

I don't think that there were 2 bugs. The problem was the one described in
comment 3: "the XP file dialog does not have its select button enabled when a
directory is selected".
It seems to be fixed now. In all "File open" dialogs the select button gets
enabled when selecting a directory.
If you're quoting what I had said in comment 3, then its
"The problem here is that the XP file dialog does not have its select button
enabled when nothing is slected."
Try this. Try to change the directory for the temp folder. Double click on a
directory so that you're in that directory and you don't have anything slected.
No directory, no file. My expected result in this case is that the Selct button
should be enabled and it should select the current directory that you're in.
This does not happen. Do we want this to be the behaviour?

I'm going to resolve this WFM based on the reporter's comment #5. Pratik, it's
best not to morph bugs. If you want to pursue what you discuss in comment #8,
you should probably try the newsgroups or open a separate bug report.
