Mozilla 1.1 beta UTF-8 charset has been used on a systematic basis when viewing newsgroup posts, depite of the charset specification in the headers of the posts, resulting in a bad display of iso-8859-1 characters. The headers of the one message I took a screenshot of were the following : User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; fr-FR; rv:0.9.4) Gecko/20011128 Netscape6/6.2.1 X-Accept-Language: fr-fr MIME-Version: 1.0 Newsgroups: fr.comp.infosystemes.www.navigateurs Subject: Question aux =?ISO-8859-1?Q?d=E9veloppeurs?= de mozilla Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit That bug happened on *every* single message, but only during *one* single session. Closing the mozilla mail component and launching it back resolved the issue. I cannot reproduce the bug.

Guillaume, does it happen only for newsgroup viewing or for your Inbox as well? On the english system with the english version i don't see this problem in this particular newsgroup. Let me install the french version 6.2.1 and i'll see if i can reproduce this bug. What are your default settings for viewing mail? Thanks.
It only happened for newgroup viewing, not for my inboxes. I'm using Mozilla 1.1b (english) on a french version of Win98 SE. I use iso-8859-1 as the default charset for viewing messages, and I do NOT apply it to all messages (no override of the MIME header). I stress the fact that the bug happened only once and that I cannot reproduce it. Could it be related to the OS ?
Guillaume, i used the localized FR WinXP, the build you used and i subscribed to the same newsgroup. I do not see a problem with viewing, the default charset points to Western-8859-1 and i can view the message body just fine. To keep this bug alive i need reproducable steps and consistency, the fact that it happened only once won't suffice...If the cause were the OS then my understanding is that it would be happening on a consistent basis. I can not confirm this bug, if you see it again and can submit the reproducable scenario then we'll look into it, otherwise i think it's invalid.
i am verifying this as WFM. Guillaume, please feel free to reopen if you are still seeing this.
