User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Install present version TB 6.8.22 > Import Outlook (2010) > crash
- Install ver. TB 38 (as proposed in the online help) > Import Outlook > only starts import, no action
(WIN10 on i5-5 PC
Rem: my outlook installation is very old, has many files, folders and archives... - but : it's working ! I tried to migrate to TB, in order to relax my requirements on a new version of MS OFFICE.
Actual results:
No function !
There is evidently no solution for migrating a complex Outlook database. Even worse, I don't even see any commitment: having to install a very old TB version (32 bit) on a 64 bit WIN10 for import purposes (as proposed in the docs), is simply nonsense...
Expected results:
TB claims to be a player, but it shouldn't ignore the giant base of Outlook users, who use that only because "it's there". Switching to TB should
a) work with simple, state of the art, tools
b) add some extra value by offering features that help overcome the bulky old structures of Outlook. The TB "import"-function, as I see it, is simply dumb...
Might be a good start to - honestly - answer the question if this effort is beyond your scope...

Windows 11, attempted migration from Outlook 2007 to TB 115.6.1 64bit. TB could not find profile of Outlook, so import of anything was not possible.
Uninstalled TB 115, installed TB 3.1.8 32bit. Was able to import my outlook mail into TB. Could not get this old TB email accounts to function, it built email account ok but would not connect. Updated TB to 115.6.1 32bit, could not complete build of any email account, failed checking server.
Saved TB mail folders to another location then uninstalled and deleted all the Thunderbird folders. Installed TB 115.6.1 64bit, added first email account with no problems, copied saved folders to proper locations and wow its all working. This took about a day, not easy path. Now I get to do this again for Wife's Outlook. Should be easier than this.

I think this is different from the original reporter, where import starts but no action?

Thunderbird Import doesn't check a server. Do you mean it could not found an outlook instance or profile to import from? Is your issue in the list https://mzl.la/3JPApWZ ?
