taking, though if 159857 can't be fixed, I would have to generate everything with js, which beats the purpose of using xbl (though it should still be able to do more than the current css posibilities, especially rbspan)

Personally I think this is a bad idea for three reasons, first because it doesn't get Mozilla any closer to a real Ruby implementation (it is not a step along the way, it is a stop gap implementation), second because it would use very under- tested code and is therefore likely to be unstable (namely 'inline-table') and thirdly because it will require QA resources that would be better spent testing the table code itself or writing tests for a real Ruby implementation. Why don't we work on a real (layout-level) implementation?
