Steps to reproduce:
I tried to Open PDF attachments.
Below is a link from support: All suggestions did not make any improvement
Actual results:
Opening attachments take over a minute. After double clicking on the attached file, i select open instead of save, then it takes a minute to appear.
This was not same using the version 60 of TB. I upgraded all the systems in my company to the new 68.2.2 and this issue occurs in over 50 systems.
Below is a link from support: All suggestions did not make any improvement
Expected results:
In the version 60 of Thunderbird, opening PDF files same way as above, takes nothing more than five (5) seconds.

In the support topic I think we have still not ascertained two possibilities:
- Is the attachment actually downloaded? ( the probable answer may be yes)
- Even if it has been downloaded, is it being downloaded again when acted on by open or save?)
- (new question?) is saving the PDF just as slow as opening it?
Hello,
- Yes, the attachment is downloaded when the mail drops on the users emails
- "is it being downloaded again?" This i cannot know for sure, but what i do know is that it takes the same time to open a 100kb pdf and a 10MB pdf. So probably no, it is not being downloaded again.
- No.

Yes
Excellent. So the size column for the mesasge shows a number which matches roughly the attachment size

it takes the same time to open a 100kb pdf and a 10MB pdf.
So you are on a slow network connection, correct?
- (new question?) is saving the PDF just as slow as opening it?
No
Opening a saved PDF takes how many seconds?
Opening a PDF from the thunderbird attachment takes how many seconds?
Saving a PDF from thunderbird attachment list takes how many seconds?

Slow network connection? No, the network speed is fine.
This has nothing to do with network connection, even if the system is offline, opening the PDF from the mail takes a long time.
In answering your new questions (using the same PDF file, on a freshly installed system):
Opening a saved PDF takes how many seconds?
1.29 seconds
Opening a PDF from the thunderbird attachment takes how many seconds?
16.26 seconds
Saving a PDF from thunderbird attachment list takes how many seconds?
0.32 seconds
