Details

A user imported their saved Collected Address and Personal Address Book into a new profile for Thunderbird 71.0b3 after a Windows crash and wanted to know how to delete the default Thunderbird books.

See Duplicate Address Books

I suggested just dragging and dropping the contacts from the imported books and then deleting the empty imported books.

They were only able to drag one address. Attempts to drag and drop other addresses failed. Selecting all of the addresses only moved the very first contact.

I could reproduce the problem and noticed that the moved address did not disappear from the imported address book.

The error console shows.

NS_ERROR_STORAGE_CONSTRAINT: Component returned failure code: 0x80630003 (NS_ERROR_STORAGE_CONSTRAINT) [mozIStorageStatement.execute] AddrBookDirectory.jsm:746

TB 69 and 70 betas work as expected, but the problem does exist in 71.0b1. The 68.3.0 release candidate (build1) is okay.

I have no problem dragging and dropping contacts between address books using 71.0b3 with my production profile.

Very likely this is bug 1595059, although I'm a little surprised you say it is working fine in beta 3.
