Hello,

Expression search would be great in the quick filter bar. For example, typing
f:andrea would search for all emails containing andrea in the from field.

Other search operators can be used, like t: for the recipient field, s: for the subject field, ... An extension already exists, but is not compatible with TB68 and beyond: it is called Expression Search (former Gmail UI): https://github.com/wangvisual/expression-search/issues/80#issuecomment-538748887

A list of available commands is here: https://cdn.rawgit.com/wangvisual/expression-search/master/content/help.html

Some (very) old issues already exist but they look too old, for example:

wangvisual, the developer of the extension, is doing a great job on Github. Unfortunately, the last big change within TB make it often incompatible and need a lot of change from the developer. Wangvisual cannot guarantee to be able to develop it further: https://github.com/wangvisual/expression-search/issues/80#issuecomment-538748887

"I'll try to make it work for TB68, and can't promise anything beyond TB68, it seems Mozilla is intend to de-support traditional add-ons."

Would it be possible to include this feature in Thunderbird core by default? I see so many issues related to this question that I think I'm not the only one who would love this feature.

Thank you!

Thanks for the interest, but please do not file duplicates of existing reports.
