Release 60.9.1 View is configured to open messages in a new tab; close Thunderbird; open it again and messages are no longer displayed in tabs.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Configure Thunderbird to open messages in a new tab.
  2. Open a message. It appears in a new tab.
  3. Close Thunderbird.
  4. Wait a minute, then open Thunderbird.
  5. The message that had been displayed in a tab is no longer displayed in a tab.

Actual results:

As described above.

Expected results:

The message should have been visible in a tab when I opened Thunderbird.

Please try the steps with Windows started in safe mode, using Thunderbird 68 from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/
