Steps to reproduce:

I'm not sure but I think it has to do with customizing toolbars for the calendar and task tabs. It happens seemingly at random so I'm not sure what the cause is.

Actual results:

Sometimes (with at least a 50-50 chance as far as I can tell) when Thunderbird is started the following things happen:

  • "Optimize colors for accessibility" option in the Calendar category is ignored, instead using default colors.
  • Today Pane shows no events even if there is some and the "Today/Tomorrow/Upcoming" have the icons but no labels.
  • Toolbars in the calendar and task tabs are as customized (otherwise they are the default arrangement).

This has been going on ever since the upgrade to v68 and the beta v71 has the same issue.

Expected results:

  • "Optimize colors for accessibility" should never be ignored.
  • Today Pane should always show any upcoming events and the "Today/Tomorrow/Upcoming" should be labeled.
  • Toolbars in the calendar and task tabs should always be how the user customized them.

Also when it happens, the events in the calendar tab have no background color.

What version of Lightning do you use? You can get the version from e.g. Help > Troubleshooting Information > Extensions.

Do you get any error messages reported in Tools > Developer Tools > Error Console? Maybe you are observing Bug 1588516. Ensure that toolbar is visible in calendar tab and task tab and that the App menu button is visible in both task bars.

I am using version 68.2.2. After looking at Bug 1588516 I believe that I am observing that bug. I have reset the toolbars and made sure to leave the app menu button and am not experiencing the issues anymore for now and no errors appear in this state.

OK. I'll mark it as a duplicate. Based on Bug 1588516 it ought to be fixed in the next release (68.3).
