User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:70.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/70.0

Steps to reproduce:

Lightning was automatically (I assume) updated to 68.2.1, along with Thunderbird.

Actual results:

Since the update, I've lost the calendars in the left pane (the ability to add New calendars, view the existing ones, and change their properties such as the colours in which the events appear for each calendar). I've also lost the colours in the actual calendar (so my events don't show up properly).
I cannot add events or modify them anymore, in any calendar.
Most importantly I've lost a shared google calendar (so all my events with my husband are lost and it's very very disrupting) and I can't get it back since the left pane doesn't work anymore.
Bottom line Lightning is broken for me, and it's very disrupting. Attached is a screenshot of my calendar right now, showing the loss of calendars on the left and the lack of colours on the right (also loss of some events but of course that doesn't show).

Expected results:

Nothing should have changed ("if it ain't broken, don't fix it"). Please fix this asap because calendars are an integral part of both work and personal life !

What version of Lightning do you use? Do you use other extensions to access your Google calendar? For example Provider for Google Calendar? If yes, what version? You can get the version from e.g. Help > Troubleshooting Information > Extensions.

Do you get any error messages reported in Tools > Developer Tools > Error Console? Maybe you are observing Bug 1588516. Ensure that toolbar is visible in calendar tab and task tab and that the App menu button is visible in both task bars.

Hello,

Thank you very much for getting back to me.
Apparently I do use Provider, same version (68.2.1). Below is a partial output of Troubleshooting info.

I'm not sure about what you call the taskbars so I'm adding a screenshot of what my calendar tab looks like now. I don't see an app button, but I do see some taskbars like the event filter and the monthly calendar tab (but without the events and without the calendars )(also the Today button does not work).

From what I understand the bug should be fixed in the next update ? Or is there a way to patch now ? (I'm sorry I don't usually do patches )
If so I'll wait for next update ! (but I have realised now how much I'm depending on Calendar lol)

Best regards,
        Emmanuelle

Any news to fix this bug, and do you need additional information ?

Status:

  • I still have the same issue, sometimes Calendars won't appear, sometimes only certain Calendars appear.
  • my Shared calendar does not show
  • the colours are still gone
  • I've lost many events from my calendars

Please tell me how I can fix this (a list of console commands would be nice, I've seen patches left and right but have no clue how to apply them (nor if they apply)).
Merry new year,
Em

Similar problem reported in these bugs:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1560547
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1596919
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1583060

In my opinion this is nota duplicate of Bug 1588516.

I have myself added some info on bug 1596919 and point to a lengthy discussion in the support forum https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1273975 . This thread includes (simple) workarounds that have helped some people. I have seen several other users reporting the problem in the forum.

Em, can you still reproduce this issue with Thunderbird 78 or Thunderbird 91 (which is not yet distributed via automatic updated)?

Hi,
I'm currently running Thunderbird 78 (78.11.0 - 64 bits) and the issue has gone away, I have all my calendars and they seem to synchronise and colour appropriately.
Great job, thank you so much !
Best
Em
