When hitting a page that requires authentication, the authorization
popup pops up, entering a username and password doesn't display what
you're typing. The cursor still moves, tho - it's like it's writing
with a font color of white. submitting the username/pw fails to properly
authenticate. The dialog comes up again, only this time the field
backgrounds are gray, and you can't type into them.

It actually works if you type in the right stuff but the fact that the
characters you typed in don't show up is a bug. I assume it is in the modality
code since the URL bar seems to work but consider how convoluted keyhandling I
don't want to investigate any farther. For what its worth it is working fine on
winNT and the mac. reassign

Used 10-14-99 build without re-migration -> worked OK.
Used 10-15-99 build and remigrate again -> Problem is able to reproduce.
Please see bug#15463 10-15-99 & 10-16-99 comments.

I don't understand the migration comments from huang, above. So maybe I'm missing
some important step in reproducing this bug. But a simple test of just going to a site
requiring authorization worked with a build from yesterday's source. Please re-open
and detail more specific instructions if I missed something.

Using the 1999111016 (M11) build under NT, I do indeed get a proper
authentication dialog. Marking verified.
(Added URL as well for future verification.)
