it looks like we need to add more Chimera components.

here's what came out so far over discussion (afaict) in the chimera mailing list:

* Plug-ins: Quicktime, Flash...etc. *excludes* Java, however.

* Downloading: Saving files as well as opening files with helper applications.

* OS Integration: Integration issues with OS X.

* HTML Forms: Issues with HTML form elements and form submission.

* (?) Drag and drop

* (?) Autocomplete - the Location is the only place (afaik) that uses this --are
there enough issues here to justify its own component?

* others...?

i'm also tempted to separate Toolbars and Menus into two separate components.
what do ppl think?

i'd be happy to work out the wording for the component description page, too...
I'd be inclined to group Drag 'n' Drop and Clipboard togeter, but not sure of a
good component name.
here's a bad one (for discussion): Data Transfer

The os integration description is kind of silly, it's not like Chimera can run
on any other os's that it might want to integrate with :-)
Timeless: the name isn't ideal, but it's meant to cover integration with other
Mac OS X apps, dock icon enhancements, that kind of thing. Marketing folks tend
to understand what it means.
I don't mind the name at all, I'm complaining about the description. Even your
short response to me is preferable to what was proposed as the description.
reassign to asa. He makes the additions for components in bugzilla.

Can we also add Mac 10.2 to the operating system field? Or do I need to file a
new bug for that?
winnie, you should prolly file adding OS 10.2 as a separate request. thanks!

also another possible component: Printing.
filed bugzilla bug 160210 for MacOSX versions
Maybe a Help component should be created too.
oh, yes, and Tabbed Browsing. :)
when we've got a finalized set of component names, descriptions, owners and qa
contacts I'll add these. Let's consider carefully what happened to the Browser
product and try to plan well for this one so it doesn't end up the mess that the
others are.
Asa, here's our final list of components (including existing ones) and their
descriptions. I also opened a new bug 161527 to change the default qa owners
for all these components. Thanks

'issues' everywhere, this really isn't issuezilla, although if you want me to
tell you the tale of how netscape's issue count reached Zero Boogs, just ask.

General, Help - Why not borrow Browser's descriptions? imo they're much better.
HTML Forms - For problems with HTML forms in Chimera. Think FORM elements:
buttons, edit fields, etc.
Printing - For problems printing using Chimera.

History - i dunno, i just don't really like having issues with the history of
the world.
Okay, here we go, this is the *final* list. We had a team meeting about this
and determined the final list of components, their descriptions, their default
owners, and their default qa contacts.

Please also change the *qa contacts* for all existing chimera bugs to the people
listed below. If this would be a manual process and you wouldn't have time for
it, then don't worry about it. However, if there's an automated way for you to
change it, then please do so.

Asa, for your convenience, I've duped the new bug 161527 that I created for
changing qa contacts so you can have all the info in one place. Thanks for your
help and look forward to the new list of components and default owners.

*** Bug 161527 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
winnie, unfortunately there isn't an automated way of changing assignees (qa or
owners) of existing bugs when component ownership is changed as requested in
this bug. only new bugs are affected.

after asa makes the component changes here, i can help with changes for qa
contacts. eg, i could go through existing bugs and move over those in my areas
over to me (unless already set to me).
done! (sairuh acting as lchiang, with permission.)
