[Notes]:

• When updating an affected Firefox build by Bug 1601563 with broken cards from the Highlights section, those cards are still broken on the Latest Firefox build. All other cards generated after the browser update are correctly displayed with a screenshot, domain, and title, therefore only the existing cards being affected by the issue.
• The cards remain broken even after being clicked, refreshing the new tab, opening a new tab, or restarting the browser. However, they are fixed after revisiting the page and bookmarking them from the visited page.

[Affected versions]:

• Firefox Nightly 73.0a1, Build ID: 20191126212708

[Affected Platforms]:

• All Windows
• All Mac
• All Linux

[Prerequisites]:

• Have an older Firefox version with cards from the Highlights section affected by Bug 1601563.

[Steps to reproduce]:

1. Open the browser from the prerequisites.
2. Update the browser.
3. Navigate to the about:newtab page.
4. Bookmark one of the affected cards.

[Expected result]:

• The “New Bookmark” pop-up is correctly displayed and the card can be bookmarked.

[Actual result]:

• The “New Bookmark” pop-up has only the “Cancel” button active and the card cannot be bookmarked.

It seems this issue was only a problem in Nightly & Beta - but didn't make it to Release. Can you confirm?

Indeed was only a problem in Nightly and Beta and didn't affect Release.

@scott @tawanda - do we want to spend the time to find and fix this in Nightly and Beta? Or are we okay with this edge case of broken highlights links for some cards in Nightly and Beta?

If the titles were not stored, it's not reasonable to try to recreate them just for beta/nightly. We can p3 this for the time being, but I'm kinda leaning towards wont-fix.

Clear a needinfo that is pending on an inactive user.

Inactive users most likely will not respond; if the missing information is essential and cannot be collected another way, the bug maybe should be closed as INCOMPLETE.
