Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:71.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/71.0

Steps to reproduce:

Try to update extensions after thunderbird update to 68.3.1

Actual results:

When i want to update extensions all extensions display this message :
An error occured during download of ...
It seems thunderbirds addons server is unreachable or some security problem occured.

Expected results:

Extensions should have been updated.

Group: mail-core-security

Also if i try to search for extensions or do any other actions that need to contact thunderbird servers it lead to an error.

With that message :
Secure Connection Failed

Do you use a anti-virus protection/suite which is not from MS? Then could you try to disable it and try to update the Add-ons again?

I use GData Total security.
Everything was fine with this protection before 68.3.1 update.
I disabled Firewall and anti-virus, restarted Thunderbird but problem still here.

Going to need more information than that, and what specific error from the error console probably. But this seems like a client side issue to me. I can't reproduce this, and the server is fine.

I suggest you use their instructions to examine the firewall logs for Thunderbird issues. https://www.gdatasoftware.com/faq/consumer/how-can-i-authorize-an-application-on-the-firewall

It is extremely common for these software firewalls to entirely block Thunderbird following update as most of them use the internal build numbers and versions to determine what is allowed. It might be that the firewall is allowing mail port access from Thunderbird but not web page ports. The more comprehensive and the more options they have the more chance there is of getting it wrong. I suggest you do your checking in gdata using the firewall logs mentioned on the linked page as then there will be no guessing if it is blocking something.

Hello guys,
It seems the problem is solved.
I don't know how but it's ok now.
Thanks.

We didn't do any updates recently so let's assume the cause wasn't Thunderbird.
