.exe dumps core on create or migrate profile
In spite of deleting mozregistry.dat and checking for registry entries, I can repeatably generate a core dump with error code 0xC0000090 at address 0x78004DDA in apprunner.exe. The problem occurs when the program tries to migrate or create a new profile, regardless of the path taken to get to this step. The profile wizard comes up, but when you click the Next button, boom. I checked and the address is invariant, by the way. I checked the bugzilla database and found several that sounded similar, but none gave definite conditions or the address of the dump so I figured I'd better go ahead and log this. Sorry if it turns out to be a duplicate. I'll be glad to send the core dump upon request, or to post it on an anonymous FTP site, but be warned that it's quite large (multi megabytes).
Seth, this looks like your stuff.
courtney, which build is this?

Good news! I've gotten M10 past the core dump! Turns out there were TWO of those users50 directories on my system, on different drives. The readme said to delete the thing and I did, without realizing it might exist multiple places. I had one on my WINNT system drive and one on my data drive. Since the mozregistry file exists in \WINNT, and I found a \USERS50 on the same drive, I thought I had cleaned everything up. I guess I was wrong. I was able to navigate around quite a few intranet sites, including one of my own with extremely complex framesets (they are invisible to the user but used for some fancy borders and such -- nested three levels deep!). I can kill Microsoft FrontPage instantly by opening that frameset (it core dumps). IE works fine there, as does NS Nav 4.x, but not FrontPage. You'll be pleased to know that Mozilla M10 works perfectly on this page as well. Your rendering engine was virtually flawless, and I loved being able to import the IE Favorites transparently. Even knowing how you did that (hey, they're just files, after all) doesn't take away from the magic, because I wouldn't have thought of it myself. Brilliant! I would suggest that you close bug 16066 but that I add a note as to the presence of multiple users50 directories. You folks may have to eat some dogfood, but it looks as if I have to eat some medium-rare crow today.... <grin> I apologize for the bogus bug. This is going to be -- no, already is -- an excellent browser. Keep up the great work. Scott
