Thanks for filing a bug. This is a JWPlayer error code: "239000: An internal error occurred handling an event callback during HLS playback.".
Bob, this can be caused by various things, can you attach a copy of the information you find when typing about:support in the address bar to this ticket so we can try to understand what is going on?
I'm thinking maybe, if it goes away on its own after some time, that it's a caching issue of some sort, maybe a stale script, or a service worker problem? Hard to tell without more info.

Hi Bob
I tried to reproduce this issue in Nightly 74.0a1 (2020-01-09), but wasn't able to. I noticed in your about:support information that you use an Adblocker, does the issue occur when you run Firefox in Safe Mode? (Go to the help menu, and click "Restart with Add-ons disabled").
G'day Paul
Did as you suggested still got the same error message

Can you try in Safe Mode ?
If it works.
Please disable all extensions one by one to find out which one is the culprit.
The error is due to the player attempting to use HLS which desktop don't support.
I have 3 extensions
1 adblocker for you tube
2 adblocker ultimate
3 open in vlc media player
turning them off one at a time and leaving them off also restarted nightly after turning each one off
still got the same error after each test
turning all on then restarting in safe mode still got the same error
turning all on then restarting in safe mode still got the same error
this web page https://www.space.com/snoopy-boeing-starliner-video.html the video has an ad at the start with ad blocker turned off the add plays but the video after the ad gives the same error message

Hi, Bob,
Do you mind to see if there is any difference between turning the pref media.hardware-video-decoding.enabled on and off?
From current information we get, I would probably say that is JW player's bug, because we actually don't support using HLS on desktop.
Thank you.

The priority flag is not set for this bug.
:bryce, could you have a look please?
For more information, please visit auto_nag documentation.
Could you try creating a new profile and starting Firefox with that profile and testing the page? You can remove the new profile after testing.

Thanks Bob. Sounds like something in the profile is the culprit.
What I'm thinking: moving to a new profile does a lot of similar things to starting in safe mode and/or disabling addons, but will also clear some other config.
Based on the issue it looks like this is a problem of some scripts not running in the player. In the case of videos like this we'd expect some code to run in the player that does some conversions behind the scenes (the HLS conversion so that we get something we can play on desktop).
There's nothing leaping out at me looking at the about:support information provided. I wonder if the player could be getting confused due to the presence of Flash. Do you regularly use Flash? Is it something you'd be willing to remove to see if it alters the behaviour here?

G'day Bryce
Went into the addons there is no option there to remove it the only options are:
ask to activate or
never activate
tried never activate still got the error
iIf my memory is correct a few versions back it was taken out of nightly and i do not recall that i reloaded it
i do not think that i have ever activated it
flash uses the NPSWF64_32_0_0_321.dll so I renamed it to NPSWF64_32_0_0_321.dll.old rebooted the computer tried playing the video again got the same error

Can you try copying your prefs.js file into your new profile?

G'day
Copied prefs.js still got the same error
I wonder if the adblocker is changing some prefs that are causing the bustage.
Could you please try creating a new profile, checking that the video works, and if so, copying the information from about:support and prefs.js somewhere? Could you then install the adblocker, remove it, ensure that the video doesn't work, and then copy the information from about:support and prefs.js somewhere? Could you then upload the pre and post addblock about:support info and prefs.js so we can try and identify what, if anything has chaned?

G'day Bryce
Create new profile added the add on's except adblocker played video it played correctly
Copied the profile directory from firefox\profiles to an external drive
Then installed adblocker played video then got error
Removed adblocker played video then got error
Deleted the profile directory from firefox\profiles and replaced it with copy from external drive played video got error
This would seem as if the problem might not be in the profile files

G'day Bryce
Sorry i have nor been in contact my machine got corrupted with windows update and would not boot each time I tried to install from backup it would corrupt my backup disks
After wasting a week trying to get it then started a clean install win 10 on another machine then had problems getting my programs working on that machine
While doing this i found the nightly error problem only occurred on 2 sites
https://www.space.com/news
https://www.livescience.com/news
I added these sites to the adblocker exclusion list but still got the error
these sites on the first visit each day gives a popup to disable adblocker if disabled the error problem is fixed if not disabled the popup does not appear again on future vists to that site during that day and the error message appears
