Steps to reproduce:

Open a ling to a pdf file in Firefox (ex: https://www.google.com/url?q=http://textos.pucp.edu.pe/pdf/441.pdf&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwi5ndqa5fbmAhWMZVAKHd-kBZAQFjAAegQIABAB&usg=AOvVaw3e7TkZCEjT7tdZiG_d89oq).

Actual results:

Opens Acrobat, but this one fails to open the file. In Chrome for Android it works.

Expected results:

Should download and then forward the link to local file.

Hi, the issue can be reproduced with link from description on Google Pixel 3a(Android 9) and Samsung Galaxy S8+ (Android 8.0.0) with Firefox Release 68.4.1 and Firefox Beta 68.5b2.

Note:

• The issue does not reproduce with pdf sample from: http://www.pdf995.com/samples/pdf.pdf .
• On Chrome the issue is not encountered.
• The issue reproduces with both options when accessing the link "Just Once" and "Always".
• Please check video.
• With other apps this does not happen with other app as per example: Write on PDF
• The issue does not reproduce with Firefox Preview Nightly 200113 (Build #20130606), GV 74.0a1-2020011095023 - There is a download notification present and after download the open notification is displayed. The file can be correctly opened.

I'm sorry to report that this is not something we are going to address in Firefox for Android at this point.
