This is a site for gif creation. When you have to select the range of the video the video window is black. It doesn't work neither on firefox mobile and firefox preview, but it works on chrome for Android

  1. with Firefox Preview Nightly
  2. Go to https://gifs.com/?source=https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3Vz1BtsoV8k

See how the area for the movie stays as a black square.

Do the same thing with desktop firefox/rdm + firefox android ua, and this is working.

This is also working on Chrome on the same device.

Not sure how exactly converts the video, e.g. does it load the video actually through the browser and then up to gifs.com?

Because the referenced video on YouTube is encoded in AV1, which we currently have not turned on for Android. That might explain why this is not working on mobile yet.

Given that this is related to AV1 on Android, and isn't fully breaking the site (just for some videos), let's ping https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/16820 and mark this as a P3 for now.
