I have a directory structure in Mail something like
Programming
 |> JGL:Graphics
 |> JGL:Sound
 |> JGL:General
And appropriate rules setup to sort incomming mail into relevant folders.
When I launched Mail today, all of a sudden the three subfolders were called:
 8586731d
 c3e21e1e
 c641eb45

My filters have also been reset so to speak - they're still there, but the
target to move to, has been set to default account.
It should be noted that the Programming account was recently moved to another
location (from imported OE mail to Local Folders).

If I try to rename 8586731d back to JGL:Graphics I get a 'The folder could not
be renamed. Perhaps the folder is being reparsed, or the new name is not a valid
folder name'

On second inspection it seems like the : is a invalid character which seems
logical enough. But how could I have created the folders the first time then??

I have a found another bug (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160441)
which seems like the same, however in my case the folders were usable, and has
been for a long time, the bug just suddenly occured...

/me hoping this isn't a dupe :/

*** Bug 161040 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I'm not sure what the behavior was at the time this bug or its dupe were filed;
currently (1.3, 1.4) what I see is:

When the folders are created, they have those random names within the
filesystem; I haven't been able to figure out where the display name is kept.
(It is in the .msf file originally, but I can delete the .msf file and restart
Mozilla and still see the original name.)

Brian Matzon, Rob Lindauer: has this problem persisted or reoccurred for you?
Have you tried a current build of Mozilla?
I can't reproduce it using a Thunderbird build (can't find build id???)
