Steps to reproduce:

I use userContent.css to set font sizes, since Preferences can only set a minimum, not maximum. The same bug occurs either way.

I don't use Full Page Zoom, although it's the recommended solution, because if I zoom small text until it's readable, I end up zooming large text too, and because I end up with trouble scrolling.

Actual results:

Sometimes important buttons are unreachable, because tooltips load in front.

For example, the Internet Archive is currently using a tiled view, and I want a list view, so I can see what's up there. But I can't reach the appropriate button because of a tooltip.

Expected results:

There should be some way to keep tooltips from loading in front, or to make them disappear.

P.S. My current workaround is to add the tooltip to uBlock Origin.

Hi Marja,

I found the description of the bug a bit confusing. Let's see if I understood

Steps to reproduce:

1. you go to a page (which one? do you have an example?)
2. You zoom in to be able to read the small font

Actual result:
You can't click a menu option because the tooltip got in the way

Expected result:
You would wish for the tooltip to be removable?

Is this right? Please correct all I got wrong.

I use my own font settings, instead. But yes, since it's impossible to keep tooltips from blocking things I want to be able to temporarily remove them.

Where tooltips turn up depends on luck and font sizes.

... The archive defaults to tiled view unless and until users switch to list view. And in tiled view, with large font sizes, tooltops can block the button to switch to list view. See the screen shot above.

Hi Marja,

Thanks for the examples. This is clearly a problem depending on the font. Nonetheles, I've chosen a component for this bug in the hope that someone with more expertise may look at it. We'll await for their answer.

This isn't a Layout bug, it's more like a feature request for the Firefox UI (or maybe Toolkit?). Moving to the Firefox component for further consideration.

(FWIW, I wasn't readily able to reproduce something like the screenshot, even with extreme page zoom. Presumably the user's custom CSS is also coming into play.)
