RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1608709

People

(Reporter: bill.ruddock, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:72.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/72.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Sign up for Firefox sync on desktop, adding the password to my password manager (LastPass).
  2. On Firefox android, go to settings -> sign in to sync
  3. Enter email address
  4. Copy password from password manager on android
  5. Long-tap in password input field

Actual results:

No text input actions were shown

Also tried typing some characters and then long-tap on the password input field. This showed options to CUT, COPY but not PASTE.

Expected results:

Expect a PASTE action to paste the password into the input.

I don't quite see what benefit there is in preventing the user from pasting their password versus the benefit of using a password manager to create unique, strong passwords.

This surprises me - filling from a password manager works OK on desktop. Because this form is on the FxA servers, I'll adjust the component and hopefully someone in that team can offer some thoughts.

Component: Android Sync → Server: Firefox Accounts
Product: Firefox for Android → Cloud Services
Summary: Sign in to firefox account cannot paste from password manager → Sign in to firefox account on Android cannot paste from password manager
Version: Firefox 68 → 68 Branch

Possible dupe of bug 1556103 which is fixed in Gecko 69+
