Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:72.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/72.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. open firefox
  2. type //(.*.)? in search
  3. it directly takes you to "https://wordpress.org/support/article/htaccess/" page
Component: Untriaged → Search

Please can you explain a bit more about where you are typing things and what you're seeing.

For example, exactly where are you typing //(.*.)? is that the address bar, search bar, a new tab page, a search engine?

If it is something like the address bar or search bar, if you could screenshot just before pressing enter that would be useful.

Also, please could you attach a copy of the output from Help -> Troubleshooting Information?
