1.  Confirmation -- 2003 July 12th, 22h19
The US-English spellchecker 1.4b 
http://mozcafe.com/xpi/spellchecker_1.4b.xpi
is *served* as, or like, a text/plain Mimetype,
even if the Mozilla 1.40 *client* Helper is set to: 
application/x-xpinstall

2.  Unlike the Zipped Alphas and Betas for Mozilla 1.4, the Windows installer
for the Final 1.4 does not install the mimetype:  application/x-xpinstall

3.  Currently, the solution is to RightClick on the spellchecker link, Save the
xpi to a local drive,  and set Mozilla to associate xpi to
application/x-xpinstall, and set Windows to associate xpi to
application/x-xpinstall as well as to Mozilla.exe, and then execute the xpi.......
