Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:75.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/75.0

Steps to reproduce:

I have opened tabs on both, Firefox Nightly for MacOS and Firefox Nightly for Android
Then I'm trying to find tabs from MacOS on Android and tabs from Android on MacOS.

Actual results:

I can't see list of opened tabs on Android, but I can see links from MacOS in History.
I have outdated (19 hours ago) list of synced tabs from Android on MacOS.
I tried to click Sync Now on both devices.

Expected results:

I should see tabs from MacOS on Android and actual tabs from Android on MacOS.

I can confirm that I cannot find the tabs from the android device on the Mac OS device or the other way around, after syncing then with the same account, but I cannot confirm the issue considering that I am not sure how exactly is should function. It may not have been implemented.

I am setting its component as (Firefox) Sync and hope that the triage owner will enlighten us with a direction of the investigation. How should this feature work, exactly?

Thank you for your contribution!

Component: Untriaged → Sync

I'm afraid I don't quite understand this report, because "synced tabs" aren't yet implemented on Android - it's being tracked in https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/5762. Can you please confirm the exact build of your Android browser? (Settings -> About)

This is expected.

This isn't - Android doesn't yet report which tabs are open.

I should see tabs from MacOS on Android and actual tabs from Android on MacOS.

This isn't yet implemented yet on Android, so it's expected that neither of these work.

Android Browser: Nightly 18:00 (Build #2015725331) 34.0.0, 03451de2e, GV: 75.0a1-20200225094028
MacOS Browser: 75.0a1 (2020-02-27) (64-bit)
I described what I have now.
So it's possible that part of sync process is not implemented yet. Sorry for confusing.
But I'm sure I was able to see actual tabs from Firefox on Android on my laptop in Synced Tabs section in History.
And I still can see it, but with outdated information.
I also found, I can see links from my phone on laptop in the list of URLs when I'm typing address. Sorry, I don't know how to name this control.
For example, on my phone I have opened tab with this link: https://gist.github.com/lexi-lambda/d97b8187a9b63619af29689e9fa1b880
I can't see this on my laptop in "Synced Tabs" and I never tried to open it from laptop.
When I'm typing "continuations" in address bar I see this link.
But in "Synced Tabs" I see urls, that were opened some time ago.

How long have you had the Android browser installed for? The Android team is currently migrating the "old" Fennec browser to the new "Fenix" browser for Nightly users. Fennec did support synced tabs, while Fenix is very close, but doesn't yet. So you might be seeing the tabs from before the migration.

Long enough. So yes, it's possible that sync stop working after new version (with address bar at bottom) was installed.
Sorry, I didn't notice any notices about synced tabs in What's new document.
Thank you for explanation, I think this ticket can be closed. And I will wait for tab sync feature.

Should this be made an enhancement or should it be resolved as invalid?

The Fenix issue is at https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/4479 - I can't mark it as a dupe of that - I think the closest we have is "moved"
