RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1592407

People

(Reporter: herman, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/80.0.3987.87 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

Version: 60.9.0, build ID: 20191007091610 on Linux 4.4.0-157-generic

  1. Create gmail account
  2. Configure Thunderbird to use gmail with oAuth
  3. [I assume something changes general.useragent.compatMode.firefox value to false]
  4. Change gmail password
  5. Thunderbird requests re-authentication, but keeps failing
    -- Fix --
  6. Restart Thunderbird in safe-mode
  7. Open config editor and update value general.useragent.compatMode.firefox to true
  8. Restart Thunderbird
  9. OAuth now works again

Actual results:

After being prompted to authenticate the gmail account and completing the google authentication, Thunderbird briefly displays an error message that permission was denied.

Expected results:

If requesting gmail OAuth authentication with general.useragent.compatMode.firefox set to false, the user should be prompted to correct the setting before continuing to authentication
