User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:73.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/73.0
Steps to reproduce:
No idea what actually triggered it.
Actual results:
Suddenly the entries for the Inbox for one of my IMAP email accounts appeared all blank. Or rather, there was one blank line for each message, and the heading line was also blank. All other folders and accounts were OK. Right-clicking in the heading line showed no columns displaying. I could restore the tag for all fields, except for the Subject line which does not appear as an option (I assume this is by design).
I tried restarting in safe-mode, with all variants, including resetting settings and plugins, but no joy with either combination. The one inbox still shows no subject line.
Expected results:
The columns for my Inbox should have been kept as is.

Egil, are you still seeing this?
Can you please explain these sentences which I do not understand? A screen shot might help. "Right-clicking in the heading line showed no columns displaying. I could restore the tag for all fields, except for the Subject line which does not appear as an option "

There is no column for "Subject" and I cannot choose it from the right clock options.

Frightfully sorry I missed the previous request.
The thing is still an issue, I am living with this and can research things on your request.
Summary: I lost all columns for some unknown reason. I could restore most columns, but there is no Subject column, and I cannot select one in the right-click menu (shown).

Egil, thank you for having updated the bug report. In version 78, there were several bug reports [1] which were caused by an add-on. Perhaps that also occurred in version 68, which is what you reported against.
Did you have add-ons installed? And do you still have this problem when using version 91?
[1]
- Bug 1684614 - Column header 'Subject' is missing from the 'Select Columns to display' list
- Bug 1671814 - "Add or remove columns" list does not include "Subject" field
- Bug 1609391 - Subject column has been hidden and not able to display it again
