Stage one: a full mozilla installation (browser+composer+mailnews+chatzilla+inspector+venkman) should be able to run and function properly if messenger.jar is missing steps to reproduce stage one: install full mozilla runonce open each component to verify your build is generally working quit mozilla rename messenger.jar to -messenger.jar run mozilla what i expect is for mozilla to work approximately the same as if messenger wasn't installed at all.
