Steps to reproduce:

On Linux, Thunderbird configuration folders are placed in:
~/.mozilla
~/.thunderbird

Most likely it should be:
~/.config/mozilla/thunderbird

OS: Unspecified → Linux

This has effectively been decided in bug 247973 as something that won't be done
