1622891 - gmail (hangouts) not recognizing I have a microphone installed for Firefox 74.0 on windows 10

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:72.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/72.0

Steps to reproduce:

Log in to mail.google.com, attempt to make a call via google hangouts, default input device not recognized and notification to allow google to access my microphone does not appear.

Actual results:

The actual call goes through and I can hear people speaking, but my microphone is not active, and there is no default input device recognized. Uninstalling the 74 branch and installing the 72 branch fixed the issue.

Expected results:

A default input device should have been recognized, and firefox should have notified me to allow access to my microphone from hangouts.google.com

I was unable to reproduce the issue you've reported in the latest Firefox Release(74).
You can verify your sounds settings from windows 10.

Please test if the issue occurs in safe mode. Here is a link that can help you do that:
