Affected Versions:
All
Affected Platforms:
Windows 7/10
MacOS 10.13
Steps to reproduce:
- Launch Firefox
- Open any site from the Top Sites section (ex Facebook)
- Bookmark it
- Close the tab with the site and open a blank tab
- Start writing the first 2 letters of the site (fa) and check the dropdown
Expected Result:
Facebook should appear in the search dropdown with a favicon since it was bookmarked
Actual Result:
Facebook is shown as the first result but it doesn't have a favicon
Note:
- Happens if the site is accessed via Top SItes section. If I go to Facebook by typing the address manually and bookmark the page, the search results will contain facebook with the favicon.
- If I delete 1 letter it will show Facebook with the favicon
Regression-Range:
Not a recent regression, can reproduce back to FX68.

Looks like it's due to the "www". First you type "facebook.com", no www, and then when you later type "fa", the favicon is shown. Then you click the top sites tile, which is "www.facebook.com", and then when you type "fa", there's no favicon.
We probably already have a bug for this somewhere.

I found only a couple of bugs: bug 1418080, bug 701421

Because this bug's Severity has not been changed from the default since it was filed, and it's Priority is P3 (Backlog,) indicating it has been triaged, the bug's Severity is being updated to S3 (normal.)
