Steps to reproduce:

I have manually enabled WebGL in about:config & restarted; still does not work. I have the latest Intel drivers from GitHub. Chromium works flawlessly on both pages.

Actual results:

No main screen, or WebGL error message

Expected results:

Web page should have loaded.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Tested on my home machine and could not repro (confirmed WebGL was enabled)

Similar issue here FF version 75 on Arch. However I think that it might be caused by FF not playing nice with some other linux program.
Here is my timeline:

  1. FF74 was working fine
  2. Upgraded FF 74 => 75 and other packages (log below) and WebGL stop working as per comment 9
  3. Downgraded FF to 74 and even 73 but the problem persists. However WebGL in chrome works

Found a work around as per https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1417291#c5
Setting security.sandbox.content.level to 0 through 2 works, level 3 an 4 don't (4 is default)

However, whitelisting as per https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1417291#c7 is probably a better solution

This could be related to the libdrm and firefox not playing nice.

I confirm that the downgrade of the libdrm to 2.4.100-1 package solves the problem for me too.

Just a note, the original reporter Andorjkiss reported this bug before libdrm-2.4.101 was released, and on Ubuntu where it is still not available, so the original problem is probably NOT the same as the the sandbox problem that the patch fixes. (The patch does of course fix a real bug, it just won't help the original reporter.)

That's a great point, though it does smell related.

Ubuntu 18.04 probably has the old version of this library. Newer versions of Ubuntu may or may not have the new one.
To verify you'll need to confirm you're using a new enough version of the library, such as via https://askubuntu.com/questions/379359/how-to-check-which-version-of-library-is-used-and-how-to-change .

It seems you need at least Ubuntu 20.04 if you want to test with Ubuntu: https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/libdrm2 (2.4.101-2)

Hi Jan, we don't have the correct libdrm version in order to verify this issue. Can you please check on your end if it's fixed in our latest Beta 76.0b7 as well? and please let us know so we can update the flags accordingly.

libdrm2 2.4.101-1 was affected, 2.4.101-2 is not because Debian and Ubuntu now apply a downstream patch.
I do not longer have 2.4.101-1, so I can't verify this particular patch in Beta and ESR. It might still be reproducible with Arch Linux: 2.4.101-1
