Steps to reproduce:
make sure you are using elementary os then go to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/download/thanks/ and download firefox binary and extract to use also make sure no firefox installed in your linux through store or terminal like sudo apt install firefox.
if you already installed from store please uninstall it and reboot your linux.
Actual results:
when you try run firefox, in dock firefox icon not show and show like a executable binary.
Expected results:
firefox must show icon like firefox nor executable app(see screen shot)

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

If you put a random binary file into a random place, then it does not magically display some icons in some dock of some distribution.
Feel free to bring up Elementary OS questions in an Elementary OS support forum - thanks.
