I do not know if the following should be reported as a new bug.
I use bookmarks frequently. However when I click on a bookmark, the new page overwrites the current page rather than opening a new tab. And if I open a new tab (either with Ctrl-T or the plus sign) the address bar obscures the bookmark toolbar.

In further investigation, it appears that the problem is with the height of the address bar in Firefox Developer. In plain old Firefox, at least in version 74.0 (64-bit), Ctrl-T creates a new tab but the address bar size remains constant (and wholly above the bookmark toolbar). In developer, the address bar is significantly larger, thereby partially obscuring the bookmark toolbar.
The problem of the new page overwriting the current page exists in developer and not in plain old Firefox.

We have a new address bar UX starting in 75. Part of it includes the address bar expanding when it's focused. Bug 1561531 is where this work was done if you'd like more info. Since this is working as designed, I'll close this bug.

The address bar is expanding when it should not. The Firefox and Firefox Developer browsers should, at this level, operate the same.

(In reply to Gus Gustafson from comment #4)
The address bar is expanding when it should not. The Firefox and Firefox Developer browsers should, at this level, operate the same.
They are different release branches, Developer is newer than the basic Firefox, as such it gets features sooner.

IMHO, this is not a feature. It is a hindrance. Worse, it is an inconsistency between products. Please reconsider the "featureness" of this modification and whether the problem it supposedly solved was really a problem.
