Actual results:

When I click on the lock icon in the URL bar, the information available in there about a site is very sparse - whether it's HTTPS or not, or what permissions I have granted it. Sure, I can click on the arrow and then on "More information" which opens its own window in which much more is available but I feel like it's old, the usability is bad and it's unfitting to the overall design.
I think it would be great if you considered a redesign of what information are shown and how the permission management is handled from within that area. The one design that I kind had in mind is from the previous versions of Chrome - specifically this one: https://tr1.cbsistatic.com/hub/i/r/2016/09/26/0ccd5acf-1729-43ca-af53-4f464f59ef5c/resize/1200x/d80c9aded41f35f79fdf6bdbf2c190e5/chromepermsa.jpg. You can tell the user had a much better control over what permissions or cookies a specific site had. Not only was so much available at hand, it also had a link at the bottom to a place where you can manage ALL the available permissions/settings for that site. Also permissions were shown and available to be changed even without the site asking for it first - I think that would be a great to have too.
As for the information available about a site - To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what additional information could be shown there, but I'm sure I, or we, could come up with something useful.

Anyway. I don't consider the design in the screenshot perfect - but it would be great to start from it IMO.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Site Identity

You have full control over all permissions for the site in the "more information" screen you're referring to. We're not interested in exposing the more fine grained control to users since it can easily be overwhelming and confusing. It's easy to miss which permissions are different from the default. I suppose this is also the reason why Chrome went away from it.

but I'm sure I, or we, could come up with something useful

If you do feel free to file a separate bug.

Alright, fine grained control aside, the user interface aspect of what's available in the lock icon could still use a redesign - such as showing whats in "more information" without opening a new window with a rather outdated design. If I should open a new enhancement report for the UI aspect of the redesign alone, please let me know.
