User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:74.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/74.0
Steps to reproduce:
- Use address bar for search and navigation.
- Use hotkey to focus search bar (CTRL + K).
- Type in query.
- Complete search.
Actual results:
A literal question mark is placed in the address bar and is prefixed to the search query (example: "? where's waldo?").
Expected results:
The address bar should be empty when focused for search.

This is the expected behavior. The ? is a special token that forces Firefox to search using your default engine for whatever you type after it. Confusing, yes. We have plans to improve the search mode so it doesn't rely on tokens (there are others besides ?).
