Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:74.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/74.0

Steps to reproduce:

Play any sound from web with headphones plugged into HP laptop and Headphones showing as default in Windows 10 "Sound" dialog.

Actual results:

FF continues to output audio to laptop speakers even though all other apps and Windows itself output to the headphone jack.

Expected results:

FF should output audio to headphones when jack is plugged in

Thanks for the bug report. Can you please attach a copy of the Media section of about:support?

To clarify, does this issue occur at the moment you plug the headphones in? Does restarting Firefox after doing that cause it to use the correct output?

Also while reproducing your issue, please open the Windows Sound settings, then select "App volume device preferences" and confirm that Firefox is set to the Default for Output and Input.

Thanks for the reply - not sure what "the Media section of about:support" means.
However you have solved my problem - "App volume device preferences" for Firefox needed changing.
I was not aware of that setting in Windows 10 - because of the annoying split between the new settings dialogs and the old ones accessed from Control Panel!
I will try to mark this resolved.
