Attached image badrightclickmenu.png

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:75.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/75.0

Steps to reproduce:

After an unrequested forced install of Firefox 75.0 on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (x86-64) right clicked on a link.

Actual results:

See attached screenshot.
Menu was mostly blank, with narrow horizontal lines of no text.
Seems to affect all links.

Expected results:

Usual right click menu options should have been offered.

Or this forced install should never have shipped.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Component: Untriaged → Widget: Gtk
Product: Firefox → Core

I don't think that's a rendering issue. This looks like a problem we're seeing only on macOS at the moment.

Are you seeing any other menu or items empty in the UI? Open about:support, go to the end of the page, and copy and past here the International settings.

One more thing that you could try is to start Firefox from the command line with the -purgecaches option, and see if that solves the issue.

  1. Not MacOS, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (x86-64) as stated above.
  2. The problem now seems to have disappeared. It first appeared immediately after the forced install of Firefox.
  3. Are you seeing any other menu or items empty in the UI? - No.
  4. Open about:support, go to the end of the page, and copy and past here the International settings. - Which are the "international settings"?

I'm aware of that, that's why I wrote that we've only seen it on macOS for now (while you're on Ubuntu).

Sorry, I meant the last table of the page ("Internationalization & Localization").

Comment on attachment 9140112 [details] HiddenOptions.png Another screen shot from Ubuntu, I'm on 16.04. Showing no extensions are turned on so nothing messing with that. Pasted below are my internationalization settings as requested of the bug reporter. Internationalization & Localization Application Settings Requested Locales ["en-US"] Available Locales ["en-US","en-CA","en-GB"] App Locales ["en-US","en-CA","en-GB"] Regional Preferences ["en-US"] Default Locale "en-US" Operating System System Locales ["en-US"] Regional Preferences ["en-US"]
Comment on attachment 9140112 [details] HiddenOptions.png I just noticed the suggestion to try opening from the command line with -purgecache, that actually worked! I have my right click menu back to normal. Thanks!

Hi,

It seems that as per your last comment this issue has been solved. If this is still reproducible with the latest Firefox version, feel free to reopen the bug with more information.

Regards,
Virginia
