Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.14; rv:56.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/56.0 Waterfox/56.3
Steps to reproduce:
I filed a bug. Someone asked me to test it in Beta, since it's supposed to be fixed. I confirmed that it is not fixed. I went back to my old installation...
Actual results:
And get an error, which I can't copy and paste, about how using an older installation can corrupt Firefox.
I have the options of creating a new account, and being injured by the default settings for a new account, or quitting.
I don't have any visible option to open my existing account, where I've fixed a number of settings so I am much less likely to get injured.
Expected results:
If using Beta will break users' accounts, maybe you shouldn't ask users to switch to Beta to test bugs.
Or at least warn that if we follow the instructions, this will break our accounts.
P.S. I managed to open using the command line, but if I didn't have another similarly-configured browser, I would not be able to search for a solution.

Hi MarjaE
I believe this is related to this known issue:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1557921 or https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1556612
So were you able to open your profile through firefox -P?
I will move this over to a component so developers can take a look over it. If is not the correct component please feel free to change it to an appropriate one.
Thanks for the report.
Best regards, Clara.
