Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Find a single, not-yet threaded message 2.Try to watch it ('W' or /Message/Watch thread) 3.See? Actual Results: Nothing happens Expected Results: Show a 'watch thread icon' Might be the thread is actually watched but there's no way of knowing (certainly not after pushing 'W' several times sinde it didnt work)

to R.K.Aa: I'm aware of the RESOLVED DUPLICATE status but wanted to let you know the following. It seems to me there is confusion about the workings of the thread-views between the different trunks. This is a complicating factor. If it seems ok to you i'll post the below content as a follow-up to bug 122640. The thread column is visible but there is no little 'thread-opener' arrow in front of the message, as one expects since there is no thread yet. The funny part is that there are also single-messages that *have* a 'thread-opener' arrow in front of them, but clicking them doesn't have an effect other than the arrow changing form pointing right to pointing downward. Since there is no thread, there is nothing to expand. Those singular messages that _do_ have a pointer can be tagged to 'watch'; those that do not have an pointer triangle cannot be marked. There is no apparent reason why some singular messages do have a pointer arrow and some don't. Maybe there should be a separate bugreport about this 'single-mesage thread' behaviour.
The bug about showing a "thread opener" or "twisty" when there shouldn't be is covered by bug 158217
