User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020814 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.1) Gecko/20020814 The metadata included in the Mozilla builds for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X are very different. The two should be synchronized, making sure that everything that was in Mozilla for Mac OS 9 is also in Mozilla for Mac OS X, and vice-versa. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Examine the BNDL resource of the classic Mac Mozilla application 2. Compare it to the Info.plist file included in Fizzilla builds. Actual Results: The two are very different. Mozilla for Mac OS 9 defines 20 file types in its' BNDL resource, while Fizzilla's Info.plist contains only 8. Expected Results: The metadata of the two builds should be the same. I will shortly attach a table comparing the two.

There's also the question of other platforms. Is there a master list of file bundle metadata somewhere that applies to all platforms?

note that COOK was used by ns4 for the cookie file Also the icon mask for COOK is not correct in the BNDL resource
Jean-pierre, thanks for the COOK information. The mask problem should be filed as a separate bug.

Note that since some weeks, Mozilla change the Type/Creator to TEXT/ttxt when it quits. I had set my type/creator to pref/MOZZ since a long time, and one day after a new build this changed.
Jean-Pierre, that's a different problem than this bug. Please file a separate bug.
Mozilla CFM build is dead; should this bug go with it?

Not really. The old metadata from MozillaMac builds needs to be transitioned to the FizzillaMach builds.
Summary: Synchronize metadata between Mozilla builds for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X → Migrate more-complete metadata from Mozilla for Mac OS 9 BNDL resource to Fizzilla Info.plist
I think this belongs on Build Config.

I'm not so sure this is valid. It looks like the OS 9 BNDL has tons of cruft. CC'ing Marlon since he has an idea about which icon types we'll actually be using.
Priority: -- → P3
Target Milestone: --- → mozilla1.5alpha
All the needed metadata has already been added to the Info.plist (see related bug 178742). Marking fixed. On a slightly different but related topic, we're missing the icon files referenced in it (fileHtml.icns and fileBookmark.icns), and the list should probably grow with image.icns, plugin.icns, pref.icns, sharedlib.icns, binary.icns ...) Marlon, since you did the ones for Netscape, do you want top volunteer for the Mozilla ones too ? Anybody else?

Simon Dorner, in bug 88393, has been developing an icon suite for Mozilla on Mac OS X. He recently communicated with me that he plans to finish it shortly.
That's great. I see that bug 88393 is assigned to marlon whom I had in mind anyway. I'll comment over there regarding the landing process that I'd like to see.
