This looks like we're trying to serialize histogram data very late in the shutdown process?

looks like this is coming from TelemetryGeckoViewPersistence, precisely it's persistence timer (PersistenceThreadPersist), which runs roughly every 60s to save telemetry to disk.
This seems to fire late, because we don't ever check if we should during shutdown.
Afaik this persistence layer is only needed where GeckoView was still running the telemetry system (e.g. Fenix does not rely on it, for that we have GeckoviewTelemetryStreaming)

Yes, Focus. I think this needs to happen as part of bug 1620656 (in Firefox 79).

Ah perfect. I forgot that we already started that.
With respect to this bug here I'm thus inclined to close it as WONTFIX. Looks like it never occured again and we already know that we're going to fix it in June by removing that code path.
