Details

in most cases, a bug related to win98 is also related to winME or win95 - same with winNT-based windows-OSs --- what about having OS-groups in the "OS"-parameter? they should be: - "win32" (win95, win98, winMe and all related) - "winNTx" (winNT4, win2K and all related) - "MacSys" (Mac Systems 7.x - 9.x) maybe someone other has more group-suggestions
Severity: normal → minor
OS: Mac System 8.5 → All
1. this belongs to bugzilla, mozilla.org shouldn't make such a change for itself. 2. i'm opposed. 2' there's an rfe somewhere asking for multiselect which would actually be useful, but ranges are really useless. 3. for the current system, if a bug occurs in two os's, select the older one (for reference, win9x is older than winnt). this works well enough for most of us. The next improvement should be of the form 2'. 4. Asa is generally opposed to generics because people are lazy and tend to select them first instead of their specific subentities. If we introduce Win32 into the current system then many people will just always select it, instead of WinXP or whatever, resulting in a serious dilution of data. 5. The ranges are really useless, mozilla doesn't actually run on macos7 so if you did mark a bug as affecting that range, you'd be lying. So you could propose that we have all possible ranges. Well that's silly, see 2' for the correct solution.
