Is this only with images, or any type of file?
Is the file-picker window bringing up a directory with many files in it?
==> file handlnig

Worksforme on build 2002081408 on Mac OS 9. The first window is just a regular
dialog, the second one just flashes on the screen.
Reporter, can you try it with a later build (which is now in the first stages of
1.2), please ? We're very close to release Mozilla 1.1 (in the next few days ?).

Sounds a lot like bug 14824 (I know the reporter's build is from after it
got fixed, but the profile may not be).
Reporter, try checking the size of your download.rdf in your profile directory,
and see if deleting it helps.
