Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:77.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/77.0

Steps to reproduce:

Close, open or let a tab load completely

Actual results:

Animations show for each: Close, open, load (blue growing glow)

Expected results:

No animations should be shown, as it was the case before version 77.0b1. I used a 76 beta before where it was still working as expected.

Hope this bug hasn't been reported already, I did look some time for it. Thanks for your contributions to software freedom!

Correct. toolkit.cosmeticAnimations.enabled is going away. You can set your OS to reduce motion, or set ui.prefersReducedMotion in Firefox.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I can't find ui.prefersReducedMotion in about:config and if I add it, nothing seems to change. Will the setting come with a newer version? Am I misunderstanding something?

Due to bug 1524874 you need to add the pref as an integer and set it to 1.
