Account Ecosystem Telemetry (henceforth "AET") is a proposal for new cross-platform and cross-product telemetry infrastructure that will help us understand user behavior across various Firefox browsers, apps and services. It's designed to let us analyze cross-product behavior of users who are signed in with their Firefox Account, without being able to link the collected metrics back to a specific user.
This bug tree covers the work required to start sending AET pings from Firefox Desktop, and to use them in an initial analysis of cross-profile user behaviour. We can close it out when we've used AET pings for a preliminary exploration of the questions raised in these docs:
- Are our Daily Active Users really "active", and really "users"?
- Analysing False Churn with Account Ecosystem Telemetry
(You might recognize the name "Ecosystem Telemetry" from Bug 1522664, which was a previous effort along similar lines. The details of the current "Account Ecosystem Telemetry" proposal have changed sufficiently much since then, that we're opening up a new bug tree and considering this a new effort).

We're no longer pursuing this approach for AET, so I've closed out the sub-bugs here. ni? myself to come back with a plan for what we're going to do with the code that's already in the tree, which I expect will be "delete it".

Yep, we're going to delete it. Ref Bug 1697555, Bug 1697596.
