I have updated to Firefox 76 and lost the customised size of the search bar/box (now too small)? I went back to the default, dragged and resized the bar but it returned back to the smaller size?

Steps to reproduce:
I have updated to Firefox 76 and lost the customised size of the search bar/box (now too small)? I went back to the default, dragged and resized the bar but it returned back to the smaller size?

Expected results:
Search bar/box should remain the size I customised to.
I am hoping with the next update this problem will be solved. I use the search bar a great deal and the results open in a new TAB. This is good when researching an item, so as to compare each TAB result. It would be good to be able to resize the search bar in the customisation facility and not to "default".

I can't reproduce this issue with Firefox 76.0.1 under Win 10 64-bit.
Could you please open Hamburger Menu - Customize and see if removing all "Flexible Spaces" from navigation toolbar helps?
Also, it may be useful to see if the issue reproduces with a clean profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles#w_creating-a-profile.

I have removed the spaces as suggested and this did not work. I do not wont to do a new profile, I've tried this and this does not work either. I would like Firefox to go back to what it was, being able to stretch the search bar to the required size.
An improvement would be to have the search bar twice as large as a default or be able to resize it from the customization window.
How can I attached a file with my layout and you can see the search bar is too small?

This was a deliberate change; the resizing was only ever meant to allow resizing the relative size of the location bar and search bar when they were next to each other. If you put the two next to each other, you could make the search bar bigger and the location bar smaller. If you remove all the flexible spaces, that will also allow more space for the search bar.

Not really a good reply, this does not resolve the problem. If you look at the file attached with my layout, this format is what I have used for years. The more I think about this problem, doubling (x2) the default size of the search bar width would work.
