User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:76.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/76.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Click on the mouse wheel, or do a 3-finger click on a page.
  2. Expectation is that automatic scroll(not sure what the name is) is enabled, and I can scroll smoothly on a website, just by pointing the direction, and the view will scroll automatically in that direction.

Actual results:

Currently nothing happens, and the only way to scroll on the page is manually either by keyboard, or by rolling the mouse wheel.

Expected results:

I attached a screenshot of the behaviour I'm expecting. This behaviour occurs normally on Firefox Fedora Package, but doesn't work in the Flatpak version.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

Severity: normal → --

Update to this:

I enabled the setting in Preferences -> General -> Browsing -> Enable Autoscrolling and it worked.

I didn't realize I had to manually set this option in preferences because:

  1. I thought it would be a default setting. If it is a default setting in all of the other deployments of Firefox(Mac, Windows, Linux rpm, deb), then it should be enabled for Flatpak by default as well. If it is not, it makes sense that it's also not a default here.
  2. I have Preferences enabled in Firefox Sync, so I expected that since this setting is in Preferences, it would be enabled across all of my devices.

Feel free to close the issue if you consider it resolved.
