On the test page (right-hand box), a 24bit alpha transparency .PNG (direct from Photoshop) is used as the background of an absolutely positioned DIV to generate a 'shadow' for a decendant content DIV. In Opera V6.05, the .PNG shadow displays correctly. However, in Moz V1.0 this box is completely transparent, as if Mozilla didn't load the .PNG. IE6 loads the .PNG but displays it as opaque.
that's strange... Even a 'show background image' works... (Linux, 2002081404)
OS: Windows 2000 → All
Works fine for me. win98, build 2002081419
Playing with it - If I clear cache and reload - I can get the .png to display briefly - however If I then focus another maximised application, and the switch back to Mozilla - the .png shadow disappears!!! Then doing a simple reload doesn't get the .png to display - I have to clear the cache and then reload...
I confirm that if you right-click and View background image (suggested by kl@linuxfaqs.de)- you can display it even though it doesn't display on the page...
(Win 2K build: 2002053012)
using moz1.1 on winme. wfm, every which way.

reporter, could you try a more recent build maybe?

OK, just tried with Moz 1.1 Gecko/20020826 (win2K) - .PNGS are now displaying -
BUT when I manually resize the mozilla window, for a small number of page
widths, the .PNG background becomes unattached (1 pixel gap), and the border of
the CSS box occasionally disappears. Should that be filed as a new bug?
well I can't reproduce either problem with 2002110108/trunk/win2k.

reporter: can you reproduce either problem with a recent build of mozilla (for
example, 1.2beta)? if so, please comment again with details (we can address the
second issue with this bug if it still occurs and isn't already filed). if not,
please resolve this bug as WORKSFORME. thanks.
