Hi Jeff!
I was unable to reproduce this problem on latest Nightly 78.0a1 (2020-05-15) on macOS 10.13.6.
Could you please try to retest this on the latest Nightly Version and tell us what was the result?
You can download from here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/all/
It would also help some screenshot or video that shows the error and the URL you are using or any other where we can reproduce that error.

Bugbug thinks this bug should belong to this component, but please revert this change in case of error.

HBONow and YouTube both use custom controls and not the standard HTML5 controls. I wonder if there is some interference layers and video playback?

This may not be a bug after all. When I switched back to Firefox's original profile (the one Firefox creates on first install), the flicking went away.
But before I tried this drastic approach, I did start Firefox up in safe-mode, which did NOT solve the problem.
It had to be something in my profile (which had only been modified through normal browser controls—never directly hacked).
R
estored my bookmarks, reset settings, re-created saved logins, and all seems to be well.
Presently running latest release (76.0.1) with no problems

Please reproduce the flickering, then open about:support, click on "copy text to clipboard" and paste it here. It does not include all changed prefs, but maybe it gives a hint.
